The peloton hype. At least there deserves to be a hype…
Working out has always been an escape for me. It makes me feel good and inspires me to do more than I thought I ever could. Sure it can be quite difficult actually getting the motivation to workout, but once you are there in the moment doing it. You feel on top of the world. At least that is how I feel.
In 2021, my husband and I decided to take the leap and invest in the Peloton bike. We wanted something that would keep us motivated and help us enjoy working out. Peloton has been all of that and more. At first, it was scary. That bike was intimidating AF and some days, I definitely avoided it. Because I didn’t want to feel pain.
Later on in 2021 after we had our bike for a few months. I made a pact with myself that I would get up every morning before I had to get ready for work. The workouts were 20 to 30 minutes long, so really there were no excuses. Except for getting out of bed every morning. At 4 a.m.. When I made my pact, so did my husband…. but I ended up sticking with it and he just kept sleeping.
I made it to July 2022, when I found out I was pregnant. I was getting really tired and could barely get out of bed in the morning for work. Let alone a workout that nearly killed me every time I did it. I would try to do a work out every now and then, but it eventually go to be too much. So I stopped but couldn’t wait to feel good again.
Everyone knows the rule of waiting 6 weeks to do any activity after birth. But I couldn’t wait. We have the tread and the bike. With the tread, you can do walks and hikes. So I was back on that thing 3 weeks postpartum walking. I had never felt so good. That feeling was incredible. I felt like myself for the first time in months.
Fast forward to now, as much as I don’t want to. I set a new goal for myself at the beginning of 2024 to work out whenever I have the time. It helps even more when my husband works out with me. It adds a little bit of inspiration and makes it feel as though I am not doing it alone.
Now that I am 9 almost 10 months postpartum, with a baby that sleeps through the night with no problems. I really have no excuses. Even if I try to get up at 6 am, she takes naps during the day so I am able to throw on some workout gear and get out there.
With that, I want to encourage you to work out. No matter how long or short it is. At least you did something that day to move your body. Which is the greatest accomplishment some days. If you have a peloton, give me a follow. You can find me at CatlikeReflexes (which is not true in the slightest). If you are on the edge of buying a peloton, I highly recommend it. The instructors are fabulous and the workouts are amazing.
